Quick
Disconnect Plug
The 7017 Quick Disconnect
Plug is a two wire connector designed to mate
with all MS 3509 style (Rebling’s 7002 series)
receptacles. It is QPL listed per MS 3349-2.
This connector includes self-aligning, compliant sockets that compensate for part to part dimensional variations and relative motion of the mating receptacle’s contact pins. This feature results in low insertion forces and minimal wear on both the shaft and sockets. The large contact area of the silver-plated copper alloy sockets produces very low electrical losses across the socket – receptacle pin interface.
The 7017 body is molded from a chemically resistant and heat resistant plastic. Embossed polarity markings and a molded keyway on the body ensure that correct polarity is achieved with the mating receptacle. The maximum torque value that can be applied to fasten the cable lugs is also embossed on the molded body. Engagement with the receptacle is accomplished by rotating a “T” shaped handle into a detent position. The hardened stainless steel locking screw has been tested to withstand 5000 engagements with the mating receptacle. Protective coverings over the socket area are molded from the same heat resistant plastic as the body and are permanently attached using an ultrasonic welding process.
The 7016 is identical to Rebling’s 7017 disconnect except the cover length is shorter providing clearance for auxiliary connectors mounted on the battery. The 7017-1 has a "T" shaped handle, while the 7017-2 has a round knob.
